Bronx Attitude,
a book talk
by Rosana Rosado

Nov. 3 | 7PM (Doors open at 5:30PM) | Teatro Latea

Rosana Rosado talks about her book “Bronx Attitude”:  When you’re from The Bronx people perceive a certain toughness.  It is that Bronx Attitude that permeates this memoir from the 13th Commissioner of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and former El Diario Publisher & CEO. A childhood surrounded by family imbued the author with a sense of duty and empowerment that got this daughter of Puerto Rican parents through a journey in uncharted territory.  Hosted and moderated by Miguel Trelles

La toma de Caronte,

Nov. 5 | 7PM (Doors open at 5:30PM) | Teatro Latea

“La Toma de Caronte” es un largometraje cinematográfico dirigido por el cineasta Paco Vázquez (también acreditado como Paco Vázquez-Radcliffe) en colaboración con Erika Jasso Morán.  Se trata de una producción cinematográfica programada para estrenarse a finales de 2026.  El largo cuenta con un tema musical homónimo oficial (“La Toma de Caronte”), lanzado a plataformas digitales en agosto de 2026 como pieza principal y promocional del filme.

¡Viva Pinocho!

Nov. 7, 14, 21 | 3PM | Teatro SEA

What happens when the world’s most mischievous puppet is born in Mexico, dreams of crossing to “The Other Side,” and carries with him the blessing of the Virgin of Guadalupe?

After its successful debut at the 4th International Puppet Fringe Festival NYC, Teatro SEA presents Viva Pinocho: A Mexican Pinocchio, a bilingual production in Spanish and English that reimagines the Pinocchio classic through the heart of the Latino experience. Written by Manuel Antonio Morán, this is far more than the story of a puppet who can’t stop lying — it’s the portrait of a family searching for each other, a community fighting to be seen, and a little boy — made of wood, yes — who discovers that the greatest act of courage is never forgetting who you are.

Corretjer: Un boricua en la luna, con el corazón en la patria, an Immersive Theatrical Experience Written and Performed by Angel Vazquez, directed by Julio Ramos

What does it mean to love the Puerto Rican homeland so profoundly that you are willing to sacrifice everything for it?  This monologue takes us into the life, poetry, love, and revolutionary spirit of Juan Antonio Corretjer, one of Puerto Rico’s most influential poets and independence advocates.

HISTORIAS in Motion:
¡Y yo ya estaba!

Nov. 8 | 2PM | Maria Sola Community Green Space
128 Lincoln Ave, Bronx, NY 10454

In collaboration with Kinfolk Tech, South Bronx Unite, The Action Lab, and the International Indigenous Hip Hop Festival, The Clemente Center will present the third iteration of HISTORIAS in Motion, an augmented-reality public artwork series featuring South Bronx muralist and activist Virginia Ayress and performer and community organizer Kaila Bulé. The launch will include an accompanying zine, monument docents, a community-led walking tour, a wheatpasting project, and live music performances.

The work memorializes the South Bronx as a cradle of Latinx social movements, cultural production, and urban land stewardship. Through digitally editing an existing mural Ayress honors the land’s original Lenape stewards alongside Indigenous migrants, exploring how environmental justice, urban stewardship, Latino culture, and Indigenous ritual practice continue to shape the South Bronx today.

The Art of Puppetry with Paco Paricio

A Lecture Demonstration and Workshop | Festival BoriMix 2026

Festival BoriMix 2026 invites you to a rare New York encounter with master puppeteer Paco Paricio, co-founder of Los Titiriteros de Binéfar, one of Spain’s celebrated puppet companies.

Drawing on more than five decades of creative work, Paricio will share how he brings puppets to life and why he has chosen them as a means of connecting with others. Through demonstrations, theatrical games, and simple puppet manipulation exercises, participants will explore puppetry as an art of storytelling, human communication, and education.

Founded in 1975 by Paricio and Pilar Amorós, Los Titiriteros de Binéfar has presented more than 6,000 performances. Paricio has created over forty productions that have traveled around the world, bringing imagination, play, and the expressive power of puppets to generations of audiences.

Whether you are a puppeteer, performer, educator, student, or simply curious about the art, join us for this special opportunity to learn from a master.

The session will be conducted in Spanish. Everyone is welcome.

Library & Archives Lunch Hour: The Roger Cabán Photographic Collection

Nov. 17 | 12PM | Virtual | Center for Puerto Rican Studies at Hunter College (CENTRO)

For decades, photography has allowed Puerto Rican communities to document and share our humanity, culture, struggles, dreams, and stories on our own terms. More than fifty years ago, photographer and social worker Roger Cabán co-founded En Foco to support this work and amplify the voices and perspectives of diasporic lens-based artists.

Today, Roger Cabán’s personal photographic collection has been processed, and we are excited to offer a sneak peek into materials documenting his professional and personal life.

Take a break from work, grab your lunch, and join CENTRO Archivist Oscar Zamora as he explores this important collection, offering a unique glimpse into life in New York City and Puerto Rico from the 1960s through the 2010s.
